In 6 days you will discover the variety of this island. Departing from the stable, you'll climb the mountains of the Montiferru before arriving at the sea. The trail of 150 km (ca. 30 km per day) will bring you to many yet undiscovered parts of the island. While the horses stay in the paddock after each tour, the group returns to the hotel by Jeep to enjoy a free afternoon lounging by the pool or in the lush garden of the country hotel.

About the accommodation:
Mandra Edera is a Country Club located on a horse breeding farm. The owner’s family has been breeding horses for many generations. The horses have been here for centuries whereas the country house was only built in 2000. The riding school offers the best of breed of Anglo-Arabian and pure Arabian horses. All are well-trained sports horses, some of which have competed at international level. The riding school offers a tailor-made riding holiday for every rider, from the absolute beginner to the most experienced one.
They aim to create new and attractive products almost every year so that returning guests can enjoy new riding experiences. The area in which the school is housed is very beautiful all year round.

Day 1 - Arrival in Sardinia
Arrival in 4-star Country Hotel Mandra Edera in Abbasanta. Mandra Edera is a comfortable and well-cared for accommodation. A country road leads from the small village of Abbasanta to the hotel, located in a spacious park filled with centuries-old oaks provided with a beautiful garden. Mandra Edera has a restaurant, bar and swimming pool as well as a small boutique. During your stay in this charming country hotel you can truly enjoy the peace and quiet.
After having checked into you room, a refreshing welcome drink is served. You can get to know the fellow riders and the guide will inform you about the itinerary of the next few days.
Day 2 - Meeting
On the second day you will get acquainted with your horse for the next 5 days. After breakfast you'll visit the stables and prepare for a first excursion of ca. 90 minutes. At lunchtime you'll be back in the hotel, where you can enjoy a free afternoon. Dinner is served at ca. 20.00h.
Day 3 - Monte Ferru
After breakfast the first phase of the trail starts. Having passed ancient shepherds' trails, cork oaks and flocks of sheep, pigs and donkeys, you'll start climbing the first part of the Monte Ferru Mountain, up to 700 meters above sea level. The horses will stay the night in a paddock, while a Jeep will collect the riders to return them to the hotel.
Day 4 - Monte Ferru, part 2
After breakfast the Jeep will bring you to the paddock, where you will prepare your horse for the next tour of approximately 4 hours. You'll pass the village of San Leonardo, which is renowned for its fountains, as well as the nature reserve of the Monte Ferru mountain. The secluded terrain is characterised by spectacular cliffs and rocks, almost resembling a moonscape. With a bit of luck you can spot mouflons or wild pigs on the way. You'll pass the summit at 1100 metres, after which you can enjoy the stunning view across Sardinia's west coast. The tour continues to a paddock at 800 metres above sea level, where the horses will rest before bringing you to the Seneghe mountain.
Day 5 - Seneghe mountain
Today you'll ride through a large mysterious forest. The landscape of today's tour of ca. 3 hours is completely different from yesterday's tour. The Seneghe mountain is green and moist. En route you can rest for 2 hours to enjoy your lunch. After lunch you can discover a lot of different Mediterranean plants and herbs. You'll even arrive in an area filled with cactuses which almost resembles Mexico. The horses will stay in the paddock of the Catzeddu Ranch.
Day 6 - Beach of Is Arenas
Today you'll arrive at the beach! After breakfast the Jeep will take you to the Catzeddu ranch, where you'll prepare your horses for the next trial of ca. 3,5 hours. While you're crossing lush pastures filled with flowers you'll be able to sea the clear blue sea in front of you from miles away. Having crossed a pine forest you'll arrive at the 8-kilometre-long beach of Is Arenas, where the horses can splash in the water followed by an exciting gallop along the beach. Afterwards you can take a refreshing dive in the sea. The horses will spend the night in the intimate stable of Sa Rocca Tunda.
Day 7 - The "rice" beach of Maimoni
After breakfast you'll return to the stables by Jeep to prepare your horse for the last stage of the trial, which will take ca. 4,5 hours. Today's landscape will be totally different from yesterday's. Today you'll explore the protected nature reserve of the Sinis peninsula, galloping through pine forest and pastures. During the climb across steep cliffs you can enjoy the spectacular view across the emerald waters. The final stop of your tour is the renowned rice beach of Maimoni, consisting of white quartz stand, which contrasts beautifully with the deep blue sea. The horses will be transported back to the hotel in a trailer. Whilst enjoying a refreshing drink, you can say goodbye to your horse and to your fellow travellers.
Country Hotel Mandra Edera, Abbasanta
The charming Mandra Edera Country Hotel with riding school and pool is located in west Sardinia, surrounded by centuries-old oaks. This accommodation is a fantastic destination for horse lovers wanting to enjoy various trips on horseback in this beautiful area. Beginners are welcome too, since the riding school organises classes for beginners as well. You will feel right at home in one of the hotel’s tastefully decorated rooms. All rooms feature a satellite TV, minibar, safe, air-conditioning and bathroom with shower, toilet, bidet, sink and hairdryer. The suites are accessed from the garden while the classic double rooms are housed in the central part of the hotel.
