Sardinia, a unique experience

Spotting flamingos with this birdwatching excursion

A great pink spectacle can be seen every year in Cagliari, as more than 10,000 flamingo couples populate the Stagno di Molentargius. These are salt lakes located at the gate of the city, where pink flamingos as well as many other migratory birds can be observed. Would you also like to birdwatch during your holiday in Sardinia and discover this pink wonder?

The pink feathers of the "Genti Arrubia" - the pink people as the Sarden themselves call these lagoon inhabitants - give the brackish water a beautiful pink color. You can see this during this excursion when you stand on the high panoramic terrace of Monte Urpinu. From here you not only look out over the lagoon, but you also have a beautiful view of the city, sea, mountains and the surrounding villages. After this first stop, the tour continues to the Parco di Molentargius Nature Reserve. Accompanied by an expert guide, a trail is taken in this natural environment, where you can admire the birds and the guide can tell you everything about the pink flamingo and the long history of the salt lakes in the south of Sardinia. In order not to disturb the shy bird colonies and the fragile ecosystem, this birdwatching tour through the park of Molentargius is only allowed with a guide in the months of January to May.
