The Costa Smeralda, or the Emerald Coast, is one of the most renowned (beach) holiday destinations in Sardinia. Up until the 60s, the area had beautiful natural landscapes yet no infrastructure. After a holiday in Sardinia, prince Karim Aga Khan III decided to stimulate the development of the area together with the architects Busiri-Vici and Vieti. In a short period of time they succeeded in transforming an uninhabited stretch of land into the most famous and fashionable coastline in Sardinia, centered around Porto Cervo. We highly recommend visiting the beaches of Capriccioli, Romazzino and La Spiagga del Principe. Other beautiful beaches such as Brandinchi, which is also called Tahiti, are found on the Capo Coda Cavallo peninsula.

Hiking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, jeep safaris and water sports. Porto Pollo is the place to be for (kite) surfers. Golf aficionados can visit the 18-holes course Pevero Golf Club near Porto Cervo. When travelling by car, don't forget to enjoy the scenic routes through the beautiful landscape.
