About the accommodation
Country Hotel Abba 'e Murta is located halfway along the east coast of Sardinia, in the varied province of Ogliastra. The traditional accommodation is set on a 5-hectare estate and also has its own olive grove and vines. On the way to the accommodation you first pass the farm animals and the riding school, where you can participate in a riding lesson or excursion on request. By driving further up the hill you will arrive at the parking lot of the hotel, right next to the main building. Here you will find the reception, the breakfast terrace with a view over the vineyard, a number of rooms and the swimming pool with separate children's pool. A few meters away is an outbuilding where the other rooms are housed. Here is also the restaurant, which offers you the opportunity to get acquainted with delicious dishes from the Sardinian cuisine.

Tortoli
Tortolì was the capital of the former province of Ogliastra and is still the seat of numerous administrations and offices. The town itself is not very spectacular and lies in the tourist shadow of Arbatax, which is just a few kilometers further east. Tortoli is a natural paradise. At the gates of the city is an enormous wetland area where many migratory birds spend the winter.
South of Tortolì there are beautiful beaches with a light blue sea, which are visited by many people in summer. A good example is the beach Spiaggia di Basaura, an extension of the Spiaggia di San Gemiliano near Arbatax. The beautiful golden yellow, long sandy beach is located right next to the runway of the former small airport of Tortolì. South of the runway starts the swimming paradise for two- and four-legged friends, Spiaggia Zaccurru, the official dog beach of Arbatax and Tortolì.
The absolute beach highlight of Tortolì is the shallow bay of Orrì, which is one of the most child-friendly beaches in this region of Sardinia.

Discover the province of Ogliastra in east Sardinia
In east Sardinia Ogliastra, a province established in 2001 when the number of Sardinian provinces was doubled, stretches from the peaks of the Gennargentu mountain range to the Tyrrhenian sea. Its landscape is varied; the coastline is known for the impressive red cliffs and hidden bays while the inland consists of high rugged mountains. The area is therefore popular among both beach lovers and active travellers alike.
Driving upwards via Baunei, you’ll arrive at the high plateau Altopiano di Golgo, where you can explore the spectacular hiking trails. With a bit of luck you get to spot donkeys, horses, cows, wild boars and goats along the way. If a bit of climbing doesn’t scare you, we highly recommend descending to the “pearl of Baunei”; the stunning bay of Cala Goloritzè.
