Flights from the United States and Canada to Sardinia

Traveling from the United States has never been easier. Since summer 2026, Delta Air Lines has been offering a seasonal nonstop flight from New York (JFK) to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB), making Sardinia more accessible than ever for American travelers. The direct service operates four times a week during the summer season, allowing you to reach the island without changing planes. If you're flying from another U.S. city, convenient connections are available via New York JFK through Delta's extensive domestic network.

However, most itineraries connect via major European hubs such as:

• Rome
• Munich
• Frankfurt
• Zurich
• Paris
• Amsterdam
• London

We can recommend the most convenient flight combinations to Cagliari, Olbia or Alghero.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Sardinia from the USA?
Apart from Delta Air Lines' seasonal nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Olbia, there are currently no year-round direct flights from the United States and Canada to Sardinia. Most travelers reach the island with just one convenient connection via one of Italy's major hubs, such as Rome or Milan, or through leading European airports including Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris, London or Madrid and Barcelona. Thanks to the extensive network of daily flights to Sardinia, connections are generally smooth and allow visitors to reach the island from virtually anywhere in North America within a single travel day.

What is the best time to visit?
May, June, September and October offer warm weather, pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. July and August are ideal for beach vacations.

Do I need a rental car?
For most visitors, yes. A rental car is the best way to discover Sardinia's hidden beaches, charming villages, scenic coastal roads and spectacular mountain landscapes at your own pace.
Please note that most rental cars in Europe come with a manual transmission (stick shift). If you require an automatic transmission, simply let us know when requesting your itinerary. We will be happy to arrange one for you. Please keep in mind that automatic vehicles are generally more expensive and availability can be limited, especially during the summer season.
Driving in Sardinia is straightforward, and the road network is generally in excellent condition. However, the island has relatively few highways, and many routes follow winding coastal roads or pass through the mountains. As a result, travel times are often longer than the distance might suggest. We always design our itineraries with realistic driving times, leaving plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy breathtaking viewpoints, picturesque villages and local restaurants along the way.

Is Sardinia expensive?
Sardinia offers accommodations for every style and budget, from charming family-run agriturismi and boutique hotels to elegant beachfront resorts and luxury retreats.
We carefully combine different types of accommodations to create a well-balanced journey tailored to your preferences. Stay at authentic farmhouses where you'll experience genuine Sardinian hospitality, then unwind in a stylish boutique hotel or a luxury resort by the sea. This unique combination allows you to discover not only the island's spectacular beaches but also its traditions, cuisine and the warm hospitality of its people.

How many days should I spend on Sardinia?
We recommend at least 8–10 days. Two weeks allow you to experience the island at a more relaxed pace.

Can I travel without changing hotels every night?
Of course. We usually recommend staying two or three nights in each destination, allowing you to explore the surrounding region without constantly packing and unpacking.

Can you arrange a honeymoon?
Absolutely. We create romantic itineraries featuring boutique hotels, luxury beachfront resorts, unforgettable beaches, private boat excursions and memorable sunset dinners. Please note that, due to legal restrictions, we are unable to arrange legally binding weddings in Sardinia. However, we are happy to organize romantic experiences such as private sunset dinners or symbolic wedding ceremonies on request.
